AOC Melts Down on Live TV

Joe Biden is trying to distance himself from a whistleblower he never saw coming forward.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a self-described “Democratic socialist” who has often criticized wealth and privilege, responded angrily after being called out by Fox News host Laura Ingraham for wearing outfits totaling thousands of dollars for a Vanity Fair article and photoshoot.

According to the network, the New York freshman lawmaker, who appears set to sail to reelection next week, wore clothing and jewelry valued at around $14,000 while attacking President Donald Trump for allegedly not paying his taxes.

“These are the same people saying that we can’t have tuition-free public colleges because there’s no money when these motherf**kers are only paying $750 a year in taxes,” she said, in reference to false claims about the president’s tax burden made by The New York Times earlier this month after Trump’s tax records were illegally leaked to the paper.

In fact, the president, through his various business entities, pays tens of millions in all forms of taxes annually. In March 2017, roughly a month after President Trump was inaugurated, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow infamously hyped a 2005 tax return of the president’s that actually showed he paid north of $38 million that year on an income of approximately $150 million.

Ingraham tweeted the Fox News story without comment, but it drew plenty of response from Ocasio-Cortez.

“100% worth it, would do it again,” the New York lawmaker began in a series of tweets, going on to justify the expensive attire because it wasn’t hers to keep.

“The whole “she wore clothes in a magazine, let’s pretend they’re hers” gimmick is the classic Republican strategy of ‘let’s willfully act stupid, and if the public doesn’t take our performative stupidity seriously then we’ll claim bias,’” she continued. “GOP, get yourselves together. It’s sad.”

Continuing, Ocasio-Cortez tweeted, “Republicans are Very Mad (again) about my appearance. This time they’re mad that I look good in borrowed clothes (again). Listen, if Republicans want pointers on looking your best, I’m happy to share. Tip #1: Drink water and don’t be racist.”

“It’s legitimately hard being a first-generation woman . . . and being working class, trying to navigate a professional environment,” she said in the Vanity Fair interview. “It continues to take me so long to try to figure out how to look put-together without having a huge designer closet.

“It’s very dehumanizing in both ways, strangely, both the negative and the positive,” the congresswoman added. “It’s not an accident that, every cycle, the boogeyman of the Democrats is a woman. A couple of cycles ago, it was Pelosi. Then it was Hillary, and now it’s me.”

Social media users dragged her for what they perceived as hypocrisy from a far-left lawmaker who frequently criticizes wealth and privilege.

In April, “AOC,” as she is known, blasted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo for allegedly giving “preferential treatment” to wealthy people after he announced that, after scores of business closures and lay-offs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, mortgage payments would be deferred based on financial hardships while foreclosures would be suspended or postponed for 90 days.

That, however, was not enough for the congresswoman.

“We’re kind of creating a class and race issue,” she said on WNYC’s “The Brian Lehrer Show,” implying that property owners are inherently wealthy. “We’re essentially rewarding and offering preferential treatment to landowners and folks who are more wealthy, and we’re not offering that same kind of relief to renters.

“If you are able to stay home, you are a privileged person in this moment,” she added.

She has also pushed for raising taxes up to 70 percent for “tippy top” wealthy, while at the same time claiming to be opposed to “classism.”
