GOP Fighting Socialism On The Front Lines, And It’s Getting Dirty

Democrats are using chaos to try and weaken the Republican party, but that is now backfiring.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) soberly predicted Friday that the Republican Party will be destroyed and hemorrhage a third of its members if party leadership votes to convict President Donald Trump during a second impeachment trial.

During an interview with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, Paul described the second impeachment push against Trump as “crazy,” and further evidence of how the president’s opponents are “bitter.”

“I just don’t understand how they can be moving forward with this,” Paul said. “And look, I’m not just saying I’m for everything President Trump has done. I was for seating the electors because I think Congress shouldn’t overturn the state electors. But at the same time, the thing they are doing is an overreaction, and if they think they’re going to have a positive feeling from the public when they’re going to go through a partisan impeachment again, I think that’s absolutely insane and wrongheaded.”

Regarding Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) apparent willingness to conduct an impeachment trial against Trump even after he has left office, Paul said, “They will destroy the Republican Party if leadership is complicit with an impeachment, or if leadership votes for an impeachment, they will destroy the party.”

Reiterating that he both supported and opposed Trump when he thought appropriate, Paul maintained that “impeachment is purely a partisan thing” intended simply for moral posturing.

“Look, I didn’t agree with the fight that happened last week, and I voted against overturning the election, but at the same time, the impeachment is a wrongheaded, partisan notion, [and] if Republicans go along with it, it’ll destroy the party,” Paul said.

“A third of the Republicans will leave the party,” Paul continued. “This isn’t about whether it was a right or wrong debate. This isn’t about anymore … the Electoral College, it’s about the future of the party, and whether you’re going to ostracize and excommunicate President Trump from the party. Well, guess what? Millions of his fans will leave as well.”

McConnell, though he has refused to call an emergency session of the Senate to hold an impeachment trial before they reconvene on Jan. 19, has also not ruled out convicting Trump and reportedly expressed support for Trump’s second impeachment to colleagues.

    • We are in this dire position of watching one of our greatest presidents be defamed and harassed because of the Republicans.
Trump stated that Pence lacked courage I say he lacks character as well (and a trojan horse)

Even in the face of lossing our country to communism they could not hold the line all they cared about were themselves.
. We are screwed with this bunch of weasels. We need to find a Nancy Pelosi for our team. Ron Paul is just another clog in a broken wheel because when the time came for him to stand up for us he folded like a cheap camera.

  1. It’s time for this to stop, enough of trying to degrade and destroy a man of great honor that has served this country better than anyone before him.. It’s time the American people said STOP.. Contact your congressional leaders in your state and also your senators.. Tell them to stop this illegal harassment of our President Donald Trump…

  2. Jealousy of a great President is making this in competent people eat their hearts out .A day of reckoning is coming Watch God move .

  3. Rand Paul needs to re-read the Constitution and some writings of the founders and ponder on WHY the Electoral College is in the Constitution. FYI, they are NOT to reflect the popular vote in ANY state. They are NOT to adopt the “winner takes all” mantra. Those are unconstitutional! The WHOLE purpose of the Electoral College is to elect the candidate that is MOST likely be the best for America and the Consitution and the American way. THAT is what’s wrong with this country!

  4. We know that the squeaky wheel gets the grease but Pelosi and Schumer are the broken spokes in the wheel of honesty, integrity and truth.
The Republicans have a soft headed old as fart who can’t balance a checkbook the budget for America. True we need a mouthpiece like McCarthy or Izza maybe an outsider of the belt way to head those seats in the House and Senate.
They ran my checkbook out for now. I will watch and see what happens in two years or so.

  5. Maqqty, glad you mentioned the parties slush fund. I just got an envelope in the mail today requesting a donation to aid them in their re-election efforts. And guess what I did with that request? Yep. Tore that request up and tossed it right in the trash where it belongs.
Many of the Republican leaders are turn coats who are Republican in name only. Many have won re-election too often and have lost their way. They have proven to me that they are no different than the office holders in the Democratic Party. They don’t support the constitution. They only support the means to be re-elected and the power that their office affords them.
And as you stated in your post, far to often, Republican leaders in congress left Trump to defend and fight for his American first agenda. There were only a few loyal members of congress who stood by our President during his term in office, and to them, I sincerely wish the very best. I will reestablish myself as an Independent. But no longer will I be a means to assist any of them for their re-election bid.
And yes, I know this post is written a day late, but I was busy yesterday and am now just catching up on my reading.
