The hurricane victims in Western North Carolina and East Tennessee have been abandoned by the Biden-Harris regime. Even though FEMA has crews on the ground in some of the affected areas, locals thus far say they have been utterly useless. Good ol’ boys with chainsaws and skid loaders had been rescuing their neighbors for almost a week before FEMA even showed up. Maybe that’s a good thing. Multiple civilian rescue workers and hurricane victims were injured in Burnsville, NC on Sunday when a National Guard helicopter performed an aggressive rotor wash on them.

Check this out:

The person who recorded the video says the helicopter was unmarked. Internet sleuths identified it as a UH-60M Black Hawk operated by the Connecticut National Guard. The pilot of the chopper never even attempted to contact the people on the ground via radio. He also ignored them as they tried to wave him away from the relief supplies.

As you can see, rescue tents and supplies were scattered everywhere by the maneuver. Multiple people reported minor injuries from flying debris. It was clearly a volunteer supply depot and the pilot had to know what he was doing.

The military has been using Black Hawk helicopters since they were first created in the 1970s. The rotor wash effect is well known and understood by all Black Hawk pilots. The maneuver has been used in overseas military actions for decades. The US Army Rangers and Special Forces used to do it to annoy poor Somali villagers when Bill Clinton sent troops there in 1993.

Rotor wash maneuvers would enrage Somali civilians when US soldiers would do it over Mogadishu, according to journalist Mark Bowden’s book Black Hawk Down. A rotor wash would cause winds so forceful that it would rip children out of their mothers’ arms, blast debris into their eyes, and tear the corrugated tin roofs off their homes.

It’s incredibly obnoxious but effective. Black Hawk pilots specifically practice the maneuver in training. The US Department of Agriculture has even published guidelines on why helicopters shouldn’t perform a rotor wash maneuver while conducting aerial delivery operations.

Long story short—the Biden-Harris regime is treating American hurricane victims like dirt.

The latest casualty count shows that 227 Americans died when Hurricane Helene tore its way across the Appalachians. Millions of people are still without power or cell phone service. Civilians are going out every day with chainsaws and heavy equipment to work on reopening the roads.

They’ve even been building makeshift bridges across streams and rivers that are still overflowing from the heavy rains. Little by little, they’re delivering much-needed supplies and rescuing their neighbors from a desperate situation, while the federal government continues to drag its feet.

Meanwhile, a second major hurricane is barreling toward Florida from the Gulf of Mexico. Much of the western half of the state has been evacuated. Floridians are used to this. They’ve been through it before. This is a first for the people of Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. Fortunately for them, they’re very independent and capable people. If they were waiting around for the government to come help, they’d probably starve to death.
