Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Silent on Trump in 2024
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-AR) is surprising many by declining to endorse former President Donald Trump for president in 2024. Huckabee was in Trump’s inner circle for his term in the White House. Now, newly sworn in as the Governor of Arkansas, she was asked by “Fox News Sunday” with host Shannon Bream whether she planned on backing her former boss in his next presidential run.
“Your bio, on your official page as Governor, describes you as a ‘trusted confidant of President Trump,’” Bream said. “Have you talked to him about his ’24 run? Will you endorse him in that?”
Sanders took some time to praise Trump, but she would not go so far as endorsing him for another run.
“I love the president, have a great relationship with him,” Sanders responded. “I know our country would be infinitely better off if he was in office right now instead of Joe Biden. But right now, my focus isn’t 2024.”
The governor went further describing her focus in Arkansas at present. She wants to empower the people of her state and make sure she delivers on the promises she made in her two-year campaign.
Bream continued to ask intense questions and she asked if there was a timeline for deciding who to endorse for the presidential primary.
Sanders said that she was not going to set an “arbitrary” timeline and she wasn’t focused on that at all.
Bream wanted to know if Sanders had further ambitions for new campaigns, and Sanders said that the pressure she felt was to deliver in these legislative sessions. She said that was the only thing her team was planning to do, deliver on their promises.
The new governor has already made her presence known in her position. She has given executive orders that have removed leftist initiatives inside of her state’s government.
One of the orders was banning the use of “Latinx” in government documents because it is “culturally insensitive” to the Latino community.
Sanders also signed an executive order that focused on leftist indoctrination in schools including the Critical Race Theory.
