If you haven’t heard, the Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, was impeached by the House of Representatives on Tuesday. And Biden and his fellow Democrats are none too happy about it.
In fact, Biden has thrown a bit of a fit about the whole thing.
In statements made shortly after the impeachment was made official, Biden made sure to ostracize House Republicans, declaring that “history will not look kindly” on them for their “blatant act of unconstitutional partisanship that has targeted an honorable public servant in order to play petty political games.”
Hmmm. That sounds familiar and rather ironic, considering this is exactly what House Democrats did to Donald Trump not once but twice.
But I digress…
Of course, this wasn’t the end of Biden’s rant at House Republicans or in defense of the “honorable” Mayorkas.
First, Biden pointed out that Mayorkas is a “Cuban immigrant who came to the United States with his family as political refugees.”
Now, to be clear this is actually true, not just one of Biden’s made-up stories. But what does it have to do with why Mayorkas shouldn’t be impeached? Is Congress supposed to be partial to immigrants?
Besides, if this is going to sway one argument or the other, it’s likely it should be added to the side that says this only gives Mayorkas more of a reason to not enforce immigration laws, as well all know he hasn’t been.
Then Biden noted that the Homeland Secretary “has spent more than two decades serving America with integrity.”
Again, this isn’t necessarily an endorsement for not impeaching anyone. So he’s shown integrity in the past, that doesn’t mean he’s doing it now. My 16-year-old showed integrity when he admitted to vaping THC in the school bathroom. But he still committed a crime and has to pay for it.
Biden then demanded that if Congress would just give Biden and Mayorkas “the tools and resources needed to address the situation at the border” we wouldn’t be in this mess.
Right, because it’s all the GOP’s fault that immigrants are walking all over Biden’s people along the border…
Like a teenager not getting his way, Biden is throwing a fit and making points that don’t even matter. How typical.
